Ski Famille was started in 1990 by two families who were keen to introduce their young children to the mountains they loved, whilst still enjoying their own skiing time and the occasional lengthy lunch. Our mix of well located chalets, inclusive childcare and attentive staff continues to achieve this aim

Ski Famille is a privately owned tour operator dedicated to providing high quality holidays that enable families to get the most from their time together in the Alps.

 

Meet the Team

Chris Thompson - Managing Director

Chris first worked for Ski Famille as "resort bloke" in the mid-1990's when we had just two chalets in the La Turche area of Les Gets. He spent the next nine years in the corporate wilderness before returning to the fold as MD in 2003.

 

Chris has a two year old daughter who has yet to have her first visit to the Alps as her careless father broke his leg in February '09 and deprived her (and her mother and her grandparents!) of a much anticipated family holiday planned for the following month. They'll try again in March 2010 ...

Sheila Standen - General Manager

Sheila joined Ski Famille when the office moved to Hampshire in 2007. She worked for Salomon for many years and has also run her own children's activity business. A keen outdoor enthusiast, she is the only one of the team who genuinely cycles to work whatever the weather - the rest pretend they do.

 

Sheila has a nine year old daughter who is already on her local dry slope ski team and looks set to put Mum and Dad's skills to shame over the coming years.

Julie Ryder - Recruitment Co-ordinator & Administration Assistant

Before joining our team Jules was an engineer in the water industry. However, prior to that she was a chalet girl for a number of seasons and also ran the British Alpine Ski School's Avoriaz office. 

 

Jules's two young children are already accomplished skiers - helped more than a little by having a ski instructor father! The family are regularly out in the Les Gets area but you'll have to move fast to catch sight of them...

Kirsty McDougall - Resort Manager (Reberty)

Kirsty is heading up our team in new resort for 2009/10, Reberty Village. She worked for Ski Famille for five years previously and returns after four years working for one of our key suppliers out in France.

 

New to the 3 Valleys Kirsty is looking forward exploring the vast ski area and welcoming guests to our superb refurbished chalets that sit just a few metres from the piste.

 

Tracey Cornhill - Childcare Manager (Les Gets)

This is Tracey's first winter in the mountains but she has already demonstrated a level of profesionalism and commitment that would put many a seasoned pro to shame!

 

With a career to date that combines the hospitality and childcare industries in equal measure, Tracey is well placed to ensure that families get the most from their time in the mountains

Nicki Haynes- Chalet Manager (Les Gets)

Nicki returns to Les Gets having headed up our chalet team for the first time in 2008/09. She did a grand job and we jumped at the chance to have her back on the management team this year.

 

As well as a great deal of ski resort experience (as both seasonnaire and guest) Nicki used to run her own catering business in Scotland and now lets holiday cottages in the summer months.

Nicki has so far proven  camera shy!
